We left Spokane Friday evening with winds blowing pretty good and the forecast for Saturday was looking stormy and wet. Launched at Two Rivers, found a slip and were ready to get an early start, expecting very rough water in the AM. Started out at 6:00AM headed to White Stone, the water was very calm and we were fishing before 7. Five minutes after we got our lines in the water we had two fish in the boat. One on a wedding ring 3 colors out, and the other was a 15.5" kokanee pink fly tipped with corn top water 200' back. From then on, the fishing was on and off, catching 2-3 fish here and there. We headed to Sterling Point about noon, picked up a few there and finished up the day in front of Two Rivers where we picked up a few more before we headed home.

Saw a few more Rams across from Sterling point, not as exciting as last weeks viewing, but cool none the less. Very few fishermen braved the predicted weather system, but those that did were treated to a pretty great day on the lake. We ended up with one 21" beauty, one 15.5 kokanee, and a couple of 16"ers. Can't wait to get back to Roosevelt. Tight lines.

I was one of those that seen the weather report and sat home staring at the trees not moving an inch. LOL I was so mad, the weather men owe us a great weekend soon for being wrong about this one.

Ditto... Nice to hear about Kokanee hanging around. That 21 incher was a beauty I'm sure. Those are the kind of fish we're all after. Thanks for the report, great job!

"3 colors out" took me a minute. Never fished with Depth Hunter before, but Ive been marking my line with nail knots ever since I saw it.

Why leaded line and not downriggers on Roosevelt? Most of the reports I read on this particular body of water are fishing leaded line. Any reason why? just curious.

I use leaded line extensively, have out-fished the downriggers most of the time. Here's why I think; typically out 3 colors, each color is 30', then 50 to 60' of 8 or 10# fluro leader. This puts the fly 150' behind the boat at 12 to 15' deep; no spooking the fish for sure. Just my 2 cents worth -Alan

downriggeral: Hi. Fellow fisherman here.Your explanation for increased hits on leaded line vs. using a downrigger has me wondering if you ever might have tried using the same lures at the same speed and going down to the same depth of 12-15 feet when using a downrigger. I don't have any experience using leaded line yet so I don't have anything to compare with. But I hope to be over fishing Lake Roosevelt soon and I will be trying both methods for sure.

I don't want to hijack nvans post here but yes I have with some success increasing the setback 75 to 100' and setting the downriggers at 18' just below the leadcore level. Some tangles are possible this way but we do run two downriggers, two leadcore and one top line out the middle.
