Fog and slick roads made for a 2 plus hour drive for us to the Keller Ferry launch. 2 near deer collisions added to the tension which was relieved by getting lines in the water by8:00 AM. I was going to give the trip only a 3 rating due to the lock jaw conditions but realized we grinded out a good number of fish by the end of the day. 2 weeks ago Al, CF and I had a fantastic trip but yesterday the fish were scattered and hard to hook. We ran Kekeda flies orange, pink and perch on the down riggers between10-30 feet and long lined perch and craw dad Shad Raps. The fish virtually ignored the plugs all day and they were light biters on the flies. We estimated only 1 out of 3 hits on the flies stayed on. We did seem to get more fish deeper than 20 FOW. Water temp was 53. The only discernible pattern was getting a double followed by 30 minutes of nothing. We did have a nice double net job on a Koke and a RBT. Only 2 Kokes found the boat and most of the RBT were 16-18 inches. The bite picked up considerably mid day delaying our prior agreed on departure time. As usual, another great day with friends on the water.
