Humbled. That pretty much sums up 2 1/2 days of fishing at Keller and Spring Canyon. While we didn't get skunked on any day and we didn't spill the worms or any coffee in the boat it's hard to call 9 Rainbows and 2 Kokanee a win for the trip. Long time friend Jim from Vancouver did get his first Roosevelt Kokanee and caught the nicest Rainbow so that was good. Calm waters at Keller for Thursday, heavy chop for Spring Canyon on Friday morning, calm and mostly sunny for SC on Saturday morning. Wasted Friday morning up at Swalilla Basin , well not a total waste Jim caught his Kokanee on the way up before we could get the second line in the water and then pretty dead while we were in the basin. Got down around the launch in the afternoon and started to mark some fish and picked up 3 bows and another nice Koke. Thought we would have them dialed in for Saturday morning but you know where those sort of thoughts lead. On the water at 7:30 and had a strike at 8:20 that didn't stick and then nothing until around 11 and we quit at noon, Jim had a long drive back.
Had a couple of firsts,
fished 4 lines out of the Tin Guppy for the first time.
Neither of our 2 fish Saturday morning were on an Orange Kekeda fly. Caught them both on a small Rapala that was as close to a Perch pattern as I had. Of the 11 fish only those 2 were not caught on K flies.
Some how abandoned my CASE fillet knife at Keller on Thursday. Had that knife quite awhile, if you find it I would sure appreciate hearing from you.
Keep after them, there really is no other choice,
Mark

Hey Part-Time...That's why they call it fishin:) Don't know what changed, but we did pretty good last Friday, Saturday and Sunday with 6 guys getting their Kokes all 3 days (2 boats). I go strictly for the Kokes and rainbows are incidental catches in my boat. We caught a few each day, but we let them go unless they are hooked deep and don't stand a chance. The fish are scattered around and we found many times that just making small changes usually resulted in some more bites.

Yup, fishin it is and I am by no means done. I be back to play a little catch up. I target Kokes also but my wife does such a great job of canning the trout that I don't leave them behind.

Hi Part-Time We launched at Spring canyon around 7:45 on Saturday. I didn't see you but you had to be close. We fished the middle just upstream from the launch. Found the kokanee very willing to play and put our four in the boat in short order. Will get a post in later - Alan

Alan,
You must have been the next boat or 2 after us. We went across and down where we had found them the previous evening. Glad to hear you did good, sorry I missed you. Got my iTroll on Friday, pretty fast delivery considering I ordered it on Wednesday. Next time out I will be "brutally efficient", at least that's what the ad says.
