Took out a couple guys I used to work with fishing down at Keller. Lines in the water by 9 and quit at 12. We kept our 6 Kok's, 1 nice bow and released a couple kok's. Fishing with 4 rods, one surface orange broken back rapala, hootchie and dodger on a planer board, and 2 riggers with pink hootchies at 12 to 15'. They all caught fish in 30 to 60' fow. Lots of boats had the fish scattered around so it wasn't fast and furious like other days. We were up river from Keller and it's not hard to find, look for all the boats. The biggest was 22" the one with the ugly guy and the others were 18 to 19 1/2.

Clipped fish are a myth. Four years ago we caught a few. Six or so years ago I'm guessing maybe 10%, not many. Maleman has caught a few 12" ones and I know I have caught 4 and none have been clipped. The ones that were released off the Ferry this summer are all suppose to be clipped and I'm guessing the 12"ers we caught could have been them. If not, where are they. The fish checker 2 weeks ago told me she checked 2 clipped Kok's. The Kok's we're catching now showed up a year ago by the thousands and thousands. Rumor has it they came from the Pend Oreille system. If they did I do not know if they are natives or hatchery fish. I think the Walleyes are eating all the clipped ones :)

Man, those are some big bluebacks! I fish for Kok's here in north Idaho but we don't have any anywhere near that big. I'm licensed in Washington too and would really like to give this fishery a try. Could you tell me where you launch and where on the lake you fish? I found an unincorporated town called Keller on the map but it looks like it's up the Sanpoli river quite a ways. Is it that Sanpoli river backwater that you're fishing in? Or are you upriver from there? Jet needed or will a prop boat do? Where's the launch? Thanks.
