We launched at Spring Canyon around 8 am and turned on the fish finder while we set up our poles. We were bundled up as the morning temps were 27 degrees. Not a fish was located until we hit the pine tree point. Using hootchies we trolled the banks about 20' out. We located schools of Kokanee and the occasional rainbow, yet they showed very little interest. Most of our marks were up close to the surface. Finally around 10:30 am I caught a nice 18" kokanee on a home made white hootchie w/ pearly beads and a silver smile blade. We marked fish the rest of the day but no takers. With the water temp still around 36 degrees, this fishery may need a little warming to take off.
