Spring isn't here yet but some of the fish are. Hooked into 4 Chinook on the lower Columbia out of Kalama last Monday. In 4 trips now we hooked into 10 kings. Lost a few, sea lion took another and tossed back a nice native buck. Ended up with 3 fish on the deck, one being a fat 18.5lb buck. The key for me was to find some lazy water off next to an island and troll really slow as long as your green label herring is still spinning tightly. I used short 4 ft leaders and mixed up some 8" and 10" Fish Flash for the bling. Pink on Chart and Red on Chart were the best colors. Make sure to let these springers tug on your line for a while before you lift up the rod. Let them hook themselves, the boat and the rods will do the work. Back at it again this Thursday.
