Another gorgeous day spent at Roosevelt.
Well I decided to start the day off with six rods in the water and it wasn't much later that there was only one left. One of the lines received a rather aggressive strike and broke the leader when it hit on the rigger. It seems as if the slightly warmer water temperatures are making these fish more aggressive and adding more power to their punch. These fish are so much fun on ultra light gear. The light gear also eliminates the need for snubbers and results if very few lost fish when fished with a light drag. We landed our six kokes in a couple of hours and had to release a couple more while fishing for bows. These fish are so big and fat and the scenery is so enjoyable to look at I could be content trolling all day for one trophy Kokanee.
A quick survey revealed that most boats are working very hard to get fish. It definitely gets easier once you solve the puzzle and get it all dialed in. I'm always experimenting and trying to make good baits, great baits. I have a fly and a spinner I have developed that have been my go to baits. I love catching fish on my own gear. Fish are still shallow but tend to go a little deeper on clear calm days. Everything I revealed in my other reports is still producing fish. Not much has changed in the last two months.
I have several openings for anybody looking to book a trip. Keep in mind this could very well be the year that this lake produces another state record. Id love to show you how its done. Feel free to contact me about my extremely affordable trips. You wont be disappointed. I have had several customers from Seattle this last month thanks to NWFR.com. Thanks to all of you that read my reports and have booked trips with me. Hope to meet more of you this weekend at the Big Horn Show, or better yet on my boat.
