Well it was another great idea but not such a great plan. Waited for my buddy Wes to get off graveyard shift and we drove down to Lincoln with the thought to run the Guppy down to Keller. Took us around 25 minutes to get there which meant we got lines in the water just above Hanson Harbor around 10. There were several other boats out that were pretty much just "enjoying the day" it seemed. I picked up a Koke at 11:00 below HH and Wes had a hit on a Rapala just afterwards but it didn't stick. Got my Koke on my goto setup, lead line, 175', Orange Kekeda Fly. Wes had a meeting at 3 PM so we bailed out just after noon. Nice day, nice trip, just not such great timing.
Stay after them, it's the right thing to do.

I think best chances are having gear in the water at or near daybreak or be prepared to go deeper. For us last week, the bite seemed to shut down right at 10 and I think it was pure luck I picked up my second koke close to noon in Spring Canyon. By then the schools were 20' - 45' deep and not interested. Can't go wrong with a day on the water enjoying nature. Catching a koke (how big was it?) is a fine bonus. Thanks for your report! :-)

We got our first Kokanee just as the sun was rising at 10 feet. The three we got after that were at 25 feet even though fish were still jumping.

Yup, I agree daybreak is probably the best bite, don't think I have ever done all that well in the 10 to 12 time period but that is what we had so we went for it. Didn't see anyone else catch anything while we were there so there must have been an earlier bite to have that many boats out on a Friday. I was somewhat surprised by how many boats were there on a Friday I guess the good weather is getting people out and doing. Wish I would have tried Sterling Point in retrospect, closer to the launch and not so crowded. Well that's fishing, we'll get em next time.

Just as many boats out Wednesday, must have been a dozen by the time we left for Spring Canyon. Several of the same boats were still there when we motored by around 2:30 on our way to Seven Bays. I agree, you take what you can get time-wise. :-)
