Put in at Keller Ferry launch at 7am with my good friend Noah. This was our first time here, and our first time looking for Kokanee. I know a guy or two so I had some good tips to follow this morning. We headed east to Hanson Harbor and had lines in the water by 715. We made a number of passes along the sandy beach with no bites or fish on the screen. There were a few other boats in the area but nobody was catching.

We headed eastward again making a few pit stops in the large bays along the south shore. We picked up the only fish of the day in the second bay. A beautiful 19" Kokanee. By personal best. The downrigger was set at 27', motor at 1.7mph, and the lure of choice was an all pink Apex with shoepeg corn and Garlic & Bloody Tuna scent from Pro-Cure.

We made many valiant attempts to pick up more, but it was not to be. We tried the goat farm, mouth of the Sanpoil, and other various spots but marked zero fish.

Had the Kokanee for dinner... and I must say, it was the best fish I've had since last May at the annual Chelan event we throw every year. If you can make it to Chelan this year you MUST! We have so much to give way.

2016 Chelan Get-Together

A gentleman at the launch mentioned that he picked up 2 rainbows and a kokanee in the large bay just south of the Keller launch.

Hey it was my first time too and we got lucky and ran through a pod of fish to get our triple bit pretty much same results further up river where we fished. I heard that the full moon put a hurt on the fishing. But you are right as we cooked ours on the traeger and it was the best kokanee I have ever tasted!

I never mark fish this time of year, they are two shallow ..The move away from the boat, that is why planer boards work well right now.. I have found if you do mark fish they are not active... On calm days I look for action on top of the water boils, fins, etc.. If you see that that is where they are at, it might be in 10 feet of water right now or 60 ... General they are to shallow to mark and are in 10-60 FOW right now.. Hope this helps and glad to see you had a nice day..

Good report. I'll be hitting that area Wednesday this week, and will report. I'll be in the boat by myself, long lining it with lead core. We shall see.

looking at the lake shore, It looks like its way down. Is that normal or does it flux that much over the months?

Draw down for spring run off. Big reservoir, alot of mountains and rivers feeding it.

Brought down early this year for maintenance at Grand Coulee dam, but always drawn down in spring, how much depends on snow pack.
