Left Hayden Idaho at 6 am for my first ever trip to Lake Roosevelt. Looking to catch the Kokanee of my lifetime. stopped in at country lane RV park in Wilbur WA. to purchase my new license and two pole permit, and some Ice. not really knowing were to go I ended up launching at Spring Canyon, and was fishing around 9am. working the far edge with lines set back 60 and 70 feet and clipped in the DR's at 7 and 11 feet down. lures were my own balanced and blueprinted bored .30 over, Green and pink hoochies. Bait on both rods was corn with various sent and color. 3/4 way across first rod went down and I mean really went down. after about 5-6 big jumps my red 44 macks doger from last year at lake Chelan and green hoochie came flying back with no fish. It was huge.. soon after getting rod back in water the other rod went down. and after an epic battle I netted a 19" beauty. just got the rod back to fishing and was changing the fishfinder setting and heard my reel singing in still in the downrigger. and landed a grand 20" kokanee done in 55 minutes and took a boat ride to look around. tried fishing for a rainbow but no luck. fish did not seem too picky. If you go for the first time you better have larger hooks and a net.
