My first trip down to Roosevelt for Kokanee in a while and my first trip as an official retired guy. Wasn't really the trip I hoped for but that does happen and maybe I am getting greedy. Lines in the water around 7:30 and I hooked up on a nice rainbow about 30 minutes later and before I could land him Jim's rod went down with what turned out to be a decent Kokanee. Wow! Starting off with a double here we go! We got our other 3 Kokes by 10:30 with the biggest being a big ole fat 20 incher. Well if we would have quit then I would have given it a 5 but since we came to fish we keep after it trying to get more rainbow but that seemed to be the end of the bite for us and several others. Marked a lot of fish, tried a lot of depths and rigs but no more bites. That's OK we got out limit and we camped at Spring Canyon and thought we would get our Kokanee in the morning and then head up to Porcupine and get some Walleye. Nice idea but as plans have a way of going that one didn't work out. Lost the tail end of a worm at one point on what was more a nibble than a strike and that was all we had all day. Again, marked a lot of fish but could not get them to hit. Well at least it wasn't nearly as windy on Friday as Thursday afternoon and it was 2 days of fishing on my first week of retirement, it could be worse.
Stay after them, I will.
Mark
