We were at Seven Bays for the weekend and though we arrived Friday morning, winds were too high to launch. I'd have gone out, but my fishing partner would have none of it.

Launched at 5:55 Saturday morning, started putting port side gear in the water at 6:05. I ran one setup off the downrigger and the other a leaded line rig. I moved to the starboard side and was literally attempting to put the line in the release when my wife hollers, "fish on"! I quickly reeled in and before I could stow the rod, she tells me the fish is at the boat. Grab the net and turn to see a nice kokanee darting all around behind the boat. Each time she brought it to the surface it would make a run. I finally had a good opportunity and scooped beautiful 3lb, 2oz kokanee in the net. Time 6:15. Wow, that was fast and we both thought we would limit in quick order, but not to be.

I reset port side gear and was able to get the starboard side gear out. Not more than 30 minutes later she yells "fish on" again only this time it came off a leaded line rig. After a short battle, I netted a nice 18" rainbow. We never did find another koke, but Debbie managed to put 3 more 18" - 19" rainbow in the cooler.

We called it day early as our son, daughter in law, and granddaughter were supposed to arrive around 1pm and we wanted to be back when they arrived.

Two rigs off downriggers, both with 4/0 UV chrome dodgers and UV pink hootchies tipped with corn. Downriggers were between 12' - 15' deep. Both leaded line rigs out 150' (roughly 3 colors including 50' fluorocarbon leaders), one with a pink Kekeda fly and the other with a UV pink hootchie, no dodgers, and both tipped with corn. Speeds were 1.7 - 1.8mph or as close as we could keep it there with the wind.

Only fair my wife out fished me as we haven't been on the water together since October. I've had a few opportunities since then, so it was her turn. :-)

Later that afternoon I took "the kids" out for a boat ride. Was our granddaughter's first time on a boat. She fell asleep on my lap about halfway between Lincoln and Sterling Point and napped all the way to Whitestone and back to Seven Bays. I'll take that over fishing any day. :-D

Glad you got to go out ...finally! The pic with your grand daughter is priceless. You look pretty serious though.

That's that way it ought to be for sure. If it gets better than 3 generations on the water together somebody is going to have explain it to me.

Waited a long time to become Grandpa, I enjoy every minute of that role I can. Don't know what I was thinking when my son took the picture Alan, I see I'm not wearing my sunglasses so probably "squinting" a bit. Have to admit, I'm "focused" when driving, and more so with 3rd generation on my lap. ;-)

Thanks all for your kind remarks. Good fishing to you all. :-)
