Seeing the sun today was nice. My last trip was Wednesday last week in the wind and rain storm. From the plateau above the river I could see the storm was concentrated right above Spring Canyon... right where I was going to fish. The fish made it obvious that they weren't too eager to cooperate. We had to work pretty hard for the fish we got up until mid morning. Most of my trolling up till this point has been my usual 1.7mph. While speed trolling across some "unproductive" water at 2.1mph we hooked up on an aerobatic koke that managed to toss the hook. A short time later we landed another nice koke which we also hooked at 2.1mph. 6 of our 7 kokes caught on wednesday was caught at the faster speed.
Today we fished back at 1.7mph with great sucsess. We managed to get our 6 kokes and 4 pretty nice rainbows. One koke gave us a great show by leaping way out of the water with a dodger trailing behind it. Despite all of the fishes efforts today not one tossed a hook.
June will be my last solid month that I will be fishing for these trophy kokes. I will be back for limited days in August. If any body is interested in booking a trip feel free to contact me for details. July 1st marks the beginning of my Summer Chinook Fishing on the Columbia. Contact me soon. I still have a lot of great dates available.
The recently released net pen fish from 7 bays and Keller have become a nuance for anglers and are bait stealing thieves. I have a feeling we only have a few more weeks till they make their way to the dam. Thursday I have 2 open seats if anybody is interested. PM me for details.
