No hits, no runs, no errors, well, maybe a few - felt a bit like the Mariners these past few years. There were
about 20 +/- boats fishing in and near the San Poil mouth - we all had about the same success rate and we
only saw three fish boated between 6:00AM and 12:30. We worked the depths were we saw them,
45-95FOW and threw the usual at them, which included corn, maggots (pink and white) lotsa scent
(anise, krill, garlic) and a few artificial lures and flies. This was our first venture into this end of the lake and we'll
be back after it cools a bit and/or the bite picks up again - it appears that recent reports reminded me
of what I've been hearing for years. "man, you shudda been hear yesterday"

We saw most of the boats fishing in that area go quite a ways up the San Poil arm - we did not as we don't
possess an indian license and preferred to avoid any confrontation - I find it difficult to believe all of those
going up the arm had the necessary license. I am aware there was a court challenge a few years back
that resulted in a favorable ruling for the fisherman, but that recently the tribe is pushing again to control
the arm as well as one half of the Columbia above Grand Coulee - does anybody out there know the status of this effort and what is supposed to happen if one "trespasses" beyond barrier "A" ??

Was there yesterday and did OK early. We had our 4 kok's by 8 and went exploring up river for eye's. Caught them at all depths and after 8AM no marks and no more catching.

widebear: based on the two reports that were posted this morning for yesterday it looks like
you got the last 4 kok's before they scattered to all points on the compass. our trip was not a
waste though as i deem half the fishing experience the scenery, etc., and this area is worth
a boat trip just for the view. do you have a tribal license or do you just go for it when heading
up river for walleye ??

A tribal license is NOT required to fish between boundary "A" and boundary "B" nor between boundary "B" and boundary "C". No reason to fish above boundary "B" if you're chasing trout and kokanee, as water above boundary "B" is closed for both. A tribal license IS required above boundary "C" which is at the 1310' line.

At full pool, you can legally access the shore FROM A BOAT as long as you stay within 20' of waters edge. I don't recommend that by any means, and personally treat all shoreline below the 1310' line as off limits. Not worth the risk for me. This was discussed at the WDFW meeting discussing potential rule changes to protect wild red band trout. There have been no citations issued on the water, and the only place I know of any concern relates to Geezer Beach near the dam on the reservation side of the reservoir. Different issue there.

I fish the San Poil below boundary "B" and have never seen a tribal enforcement boat. Respect tribal lands and you won't have an issue. ;-)
