I wanted to give a quick update on the Hanford Reach Salmon fishing from this past weekend. Munden's Rising Son Adventures fished on the lower Reach around the Ringold area. Like most years on the Reach, water levels have played a major part in the fishing. Knowing when and where to be at different water levels is key to consistently putting fish in the box. As a general rule of thumb, low or dropping water, fish the deeper holding water. On high or rising water, fish travel lanes as fish will be moving more. One of the major frustrations on the reach in recent years are the amount of weeds that are building up throughout the summer. When water is high, then drops fast, the weeds are collected from the sloughs and back eddies and come rushing down the river. The first 3-4 hours after a high water drop are almost unfishable. We have been able to grind through the veggies and put fish in the box on every trip this year. Our primary techniques have been downstream trolling super baits. I run a pro-troll flasher, 8-12 oz of lead, and a super bait. To be honest, colors have not seemed to play a big difference this year. Stuff these baits with a good meat concoction and get it near the bottom and your fishing! Notice I said "meat" concoction and not just tuna. With so much pressure, try thinking outside the box and use a little variety in your baits. Tuna is not the only option. We are averaging between 8-10 chances a trip. With this type of fishing, you do loose some fish, but some days everything works out and you have a great day and lots of salmon in the box!

Give me a call if interested in this fishery. I have October 16, 23, and 30th open for 3 people each day. Fill all three spots and I give a 15% discount. Tight lines! Jake
