Thought I'd let people know about walleye fishing on Lake Celilo this fall. First I read Ed Iman on the shad run and how it affects the walleye. Ed says he won't fish for walleye during August and September. I went in late September and October 10th. Boy there are shad smolts all over! There must be billions of smolts in the Columbia. No wonder the walleye get so big.

Problem is the walleye don't bite much during the shad smolt run downriver. I now know why Ed was quoted as saying he doesn't fish for walleye then. On my fish finder, every bait fish ball was surrounded by large predator fish. What a feast for the bass and walleye. They are so full that it is hard to even get bites from the walleye.
