Finally got out to Roosevelt for the first time this fall. Took Captain Dave and his father with me for a relaxed day of fishing after a busy season on the Reach for Dave. Put the boat in at Lincoln around 9:00 and went downstream to fish. Sonared lots of fish in 20' of water but did not find them very willing to bite. Got to run the new planer boards for the first time with Dave's help. Pulled 3 colors lead core and scored the first rainbow on the system. Makes it nice when you need to get lines away from the boat and spread things out.
We had to hunt for the biters but when we found them they were willing and we quickly finished out our 15 fish limit. I really goofed when I loaded the tackle in the boat. I couldn't find the Kekeda flies....yikes! I have found the Kekeda in orange/black and the perch one to really work at Roosevelt on the bows. RATS! Had to work to find something else to catch the limit of fish with.
The kokanee are not schooled up yet. We sonared one here and there at about 50' deep in 150' of water. Wont be long they should come to life as the water cools and they come up. Will be interesting to see how it goes this year after last year's banner kokanee year.
