Went on friend Gareld's boat yesterday to try for some walleye action. We had friend Dave along too. Launched out of Porky Pine Bay around 9:00 AM. It was really warm for a November morning and the sun burned the remaining fog off as we began to fish. We put on jigs and night crawlers and began fishing in 45' of water. The day turned out to be so beautiful; WOW sunshine after a record breaking October, nearly 5.5 inches of rain when 1.5" is normal. This day deserves a 5 for the weather alone!
Back to fishing; Gareld got the first walleye that was around a foot long followed by Dave's about the same size. Me well I managed to get my worm stolen. We continued to fish and figured we would catch some more in the same spot but it was not to be. Changed locations and fished from 25' all the way down to 75' managed one small mouth bass. All of the sudden my rod goes down in a giant hit. Head shakes and huge tugs....this can't be a walleye! Nope, it was a beautiful 20" hatchery trout, what a fighter! We continued to fish the area for no more bites. Moved down stream but never found another fish.
I just couldn't rate the day less than a 4 because of the beautiful weather, bald eagles, golden eagles ,wild turkeys and just great fun with friends. Sometimes it is more than just about the fish. Sometimes it is just soaking up God's great creation; we are so privileged to get to enjoy it.
