We got on the Spokane arm of Roosevelt at Porcupine about 8:00 am, there were already about eight trucks with trailers in the parking lot. The river is really muddy and visibility is horrible. There is also a lot of debris in the water, logs, branches, weeds, etc.

We headed down river, toward McCoy's and fished the south side in some really deep water where we managed to boat 4 really nice Burbot. The bite died down pretty quick there and we decided to make our way up the narrows toward buoy 5.

Once there we started a drift and threw everything in both tackle boxes at the eyes, the thing that seemed to work the best was a black jighead with a black and silver flake sassy shad. We ended the day with 14 eyes in the boat.

The weather was great, sunny in the low 40s and not much wind.

We think we'll put in at Fort Spokane next week to see if we can pick off a few more as it looks like the Burbot are headed back to deeper water in the Columbia.

Nice batch of fish. Do the burbot fight hard? Good luck your next trip.

well done. I fished from 730-2 and couldn't figure the walleyes out in the Mudslick of a river. I did manage to net a basketball, soccer ball, and tennis ball along with a bag of plastics floating down the river. On the up side it was one of the calmest days I've fished there in forever and the sun felt great.

@ ridgeratt, they didn't fight, more like your line gets heavy and then you're pulling up an old rubber boot, half of them weren't even hooked, they just refused to let go of the jig until they broke the surface and realized they were out of the water.

@ Xwisconyfisherman, we were there from 8-3 and you're right the water quality was horrible. Funny you should mention netting the balls, my fishing buddy netted a Strawberry Shortcake ball in the flats between the narrows and the Porcupine launch.
