we left at like 2:20 am it was still dark so we drove to the river it took 2 hours and stopped at the first stop we could see to park good that was near water we stayed there till it got light out at like 8 am we used buck hair jigs and red dyed shrimp with bobbers with glow sticks didnt get ANY BITES from steelhead but my uncle caught a 2 lbs smallmouth so we packed back up and went lookin for a good spot now that it was light out and we could see we looked for a while found this place wawawai landing at about 9am we saw it had this thing that went out past the shore a lil bit so we tried there i put a red buck hair jig with red dyed shrimp and some shrimp oil casted out off the very end of that thing straight out as far as i could about 15 min later got a bite tightend up the line it bit again and i sit the hook got it in made me very happy so we fished till 3pm no more bites but that 1 fish made it worth it biggest fish i caught all year 23 inch 4 lbs 11 oz steelhead it was hatchery if any1 was wondering. also thank you to all the people gave me tips on what to use and wear to go it was a very good first steelhead fishing trip!!!!
