Spent the 21-23 down at the Snake and Palouse.

First day spent it up the Palouse fishing for channel cats. First started bottom fishing with worms and started catching small mouth bass and perch. Bass were averaging 10inches, and same with the perch. Also caught some bluegills and sunfish.

Switched baits to chicken liver to target the cats more and limit other fish taking our baits. Started catching bullheads and squawfish. Only managed to catch two channel cats about 12 inches in length.

Did take a walk on land around dusk, saw one whitetail deer, two doe mule deer, two cotton tail rabbits, red tail hawk, and one rattle snake about 3 feet long.

The morning of the second day we fished for several hours on the Palouse again. Again bottom fished with worms. This time managed three more bullheads, two more blue gill, and a 15" Walleye. That evening we fished on the barrier that protects the boat launch and park area. Fished it with Kalin 3" Chartreuse curly tailed grubs. Hooked alot of fished but only landed four small mouth all near two pounds. Hooked one on a Chartreuse Berkley Gulp minnow, lost it at shore. It was also about two pounds. Ended the night tossing a worm out and landing a 14" perch.

Did hook something big. Took my grub, never surfaced, and snapped my line without much effort.

Spent the morning of the 23rd fishing the same spot. This time fished with a Kalin smoke and red flake 3" grub. Hooked into six bass, only landing two around the 2lb mark. Threw another worm out which landed a 12" perch.

Temp on the Palouse was around 66 degrees both days we fished it.
First and last day were overcast mostly with a light breeze. Second day was clear skys and hot the way the Snake usually is during the summer.
Over all caught 12 small mouth largest being 2.5lbs. Caught 10 perch largest being 14." Six Sunfish One Bluegill. Bluegill being the largest at 8." Two Channel Cat at 12." Multiple Bullheads. Two Squawfish, One 15" Walleye.

Over all head a great time on the river, will be returning later this year and definately next year.

Thanks for putting in the time and effort for such a detailed report. It should be very helpful to some.

Hmmm sucks on the channels, were you fishing the flats? or did you ever try fishing the grain elevator area? Going there tomorrow morning for some fishing for catfish, crappie, and walleye. Might get my dad to go out Sunday too if he stays until Monday.

Didn't fish the flats or the grain elevator area. Did see several other fisherman bringing in some decent sized cats. Cats were probably around 20"
