Hit Heller at 8:30 am. Ran up above the mouth of the Imnaha and fished down from there. Backtrolled hotlips in the 25 foot dive variety, and Brad's MagWarts. Purple and red seemed to be providing the most response.

The Snake was very warm. 53 degrees above the Salmon, and 48 below. The Salmon, on the other hand, was cold - 38 degrees. The bite was off. I've been hearing reports that it has been for a while now. not sure what is happening, but I'm wondering if the warm water might not be it, because the two wild steelhead we caught that day were both in the tail-out of the Salmon as it enters the Snake, where the water was much colder and clear. Fished it hard all day for two steelhead.

Beautiful day. Imnaha Rapids was flowing hard. The wave train was fun, but on the way down, I came off step too much and got pulled into the center of the wave train. no big deal, but we got wet before i was able to goose it back up on step and keep the bow out of the wave face.

The fish also seemed to be holding in much slower water than usual, and both of them did not fight very hard, very lethargic, so I'm thinking the warm water has put them all to sleep. Dunno, just a guess.

Seems like a reasonable guess to me. I know that when I get into a hot tub I generally just lay there, talk slower and quieter, and maybe consider moving every so often and rarely do, but when i get into a cold pool as soon as it is up to my waste I scream and louder if the water is colder and then I start splashing about. So perhaps were onto something here.... I doubt it is relevant but I do tend to pass gas in hot tubs but never in cold pools.... Hey Hoss you don't have a hot tub we can relax in do ya?
