Went down to the brownlee reservoir again from the 23-28 and believe we might have been a little too early because fishing for crappies was tough. Had to go very deep to find them. The small mouth bass were cooperative though. Just throw along the shoreline with a swimmin minnow and it was more than likely you would hook up with a smallie. Also did some fishing for catfish and did fair. Highlight of the trip though was going to huntington on snake river rd from richland and finding a spot filled with carp, not sure how well they taste but they are a lot of fun to catch on light tackle. Will be heading down for another trip, but not sure when. Oh and also got a picture of this snake that came through our camp, any idea what kind of snake it is?

If you cut out all of the dark meat in those carp and smoke what you have left you mght like it. I've tried it that way and it was real good.

Looks like a bull. Had one up by potholes right under my feet. Must have been over 4'. About had a heart attack before figuring out it was one of the good guys!

Thanks for the feedback. Yea definitely caught me by surprise and i took off running the other direction because i was the closest one to it, about 2 feet. Thanks mike i might try that the next time I go if we have room in the coolers cause there were some monster carps we hooked into and lost. I didn't see any that were small, all of the ones we saw had to be 10 pounds and up with some being 20+. I did snag one on accident and just got the scale and the scale was at least 2 inches in diameter if not bigger.

Thanks for the info jiggy. I have seen you a lot on here and see that you fish for panfish a lot. Have you ever made your way down to the brownlee reservoir for crappies?

might be heading that way in july i heard the water is still low if you want to eat carp theirs different types you must remove the mud vein from the back then you can either soak it in a little bit of salt water or buttermilk or sprite over night that will get all that mud taste out and cook them how you like i prefer frying them cutting finger width groves all the way to the tail so them fine bones fryed up. it might sound like a lot of work its worth it im from ohio ate my share of mud suckers good luck

cinatikid good to hear you might go. It is a lot of fun when the crappie are biting and thanks for the tips on the carp. water is not low low but its not full pool, about 9 feet from full. Its not as low as last year when we went, water is high enough now to use the boat launch at hewiit park. Last year when i went you couldn't even use that boat launch cause it was so low. What kind of fish are you going to be targeting if you head to the brownlee?
