Rated a 4 because it was just an exploratory trip and I wasn't hoping for much. Water is down about 3 feet and the gaps between the messed up concrete blocks of the wawawai launch were a little challenging, but if you launch more on the part of the ramp that is farther from the dock, you don't get your trailer wheels stuck between the gaps between the blocks. Tried a spot on the steep side with some submerged rocks, no sign of life. Switched to the other side on a wind blown shallow area cruised a little bit looking for anything showing up on the fish finder. Stopped at the best spot on this area, saw some marks suspended in about 20-25 fow. Soon got bit on a DT6 rapala cast towards shore in about 5-10 fow. It was fast for about half an hour with hookups on about every other cast. 2 were decent in the 15-16 inch range and hefty. Lost another one that was good sized. Slowed down a bit and was occasionally picking them up on the DT6 and a lucky craft jerkbait. Fish seemed pretty aggressive. No dinks, most were around 12 inches. Bite eventually stopped and tried a point that drops off from 6 to 20 feet. No bites but the occasional boil on the surface kept me interested. Eventually picked up two in a row right on the drop off with the jerk bait. One was decent. Headed back in after no more bites. Definitely looking positive. Seemed like when you find them, the fish are cooperating. Water temp was 48, visibility was good, moderate wind.
