Had to select a location, this was not in AK.
Just returned from a trip down to Modesto, CA. We made a day trip up HGWY 120 towards Yosemite. On the S.fork Tuolumne. A little day use place called Rainbow pools, several places for rock jumping/cliff diving. Very cool little place. I decided to do a little fishing while there. What a day, started out using just the spinners I had in my travel box, and about the 3rd cast hooked about a 15-16 inch RB. Caught 2 more in the next 30 minutes. All of this just above the water fall where everybody jumps off the rocks. A couple of old timer locals came by to fish and told me the limit was 5 a day, I thought it was only 2. They were using a single salmon egg with great results. When they left they gave me a few of the eggs to use. Over about 4 hours I caught and released 6-7 fish, lost 2 before I could get them out of the water and kept 4 to leave my Dad with some fresh fish. The fish all ranged from 12-16 inches and most were fat. A good mix of wild and stocked. Finally quite when a few kids were getting to close to the fish and turning the bite off. Turned into a great day of fishing when I didn't expect to catch anything. Also learned the main Tuolumne a little farther up stream can produce Browns up to 8lbs, might have to give that a try next year. My kid was ticked, he chose not to get a 1 day license to fish, he had to sit and watch.
