We just finished up the annual Northwest Fishing Reports camp out at Lake Chelan. What a great time we all had including the Saturday night salmon fish tacos cooked again by Rseas (Randy) and all the other great food provided by the NWFR members. Thanks so much to all of the NWFR staff for another GREAT event.

The iTroll provided by Joel and iFishSolutions was won by Tyler Ricci (sorry but I didn't get your handle at NWFR). Enjoy the Precision Speed Control and the Hunt mode to track down those fish while trolling!

Now on to the Kokanee fishing report: WOW describes it best! Fish Dawg and the Fish Princess arrived Thursday PM at the Chelan State Park and I arrived shortly after. We got a late start Friday morning around 11 AM after having breakfast and getting the boat and tackle ready to go. Bryan (Fish Dawg) had fished the derby the week before so he had the process "dialed in" boy was it dialed in! We started catching kokes immediately on the three color lead core rods, and the downriggers set at 44 and 55' deep. Orange shoepeg corn (Sam's recipe) on orange rigs did the damage along with a holographic hoochi spinner rig behind a Dick Nite purple and pink hot head dodger. Ran the gear we started with for the whole weekend. It took a little over two hours to limit the boat with 30 fish. They ran in three size classes with the smallest 9 to 10", the middle 12" and the biggest ones between 14 and 15". The iTroll did an awesome job of keeping the throttle at precise speed settings, 1.3 to 1.5 mph was the magic number for us. The HUNT mode in the iTroll also varies the speed automatically for you to trigger strikes!

A quick note on fish care for the best table fare. All fish were bled by breaking a gill and putting them in a 5 gallon bucket with some lake water in it. This makes a much better fish to eat. Next put them on ice in the cooler, and finally we filleted them, vacuum sealed and into the freezer in the camper. Ready to go into the smoke process when time permits. Keep some of the last ones caught to be fresh table fare....YUM!

Thanks again to all who made this possible - downriggeral

You're welcome, Mike...thanks for hosting another great event. I second the recommendation on the iTroll unit. Quality gear designed with fishermen in mind! Love the idle/run feature!!

Thanks for hosting the Fish Princess and me aboard your vessel Captain Al! We had a great time fishing with you as usual!! Katy especially enjoyed learning to drive the boat. :-)

Thanks for supporting NWFR as a sponsor and thanks for donating such a fabulous prize to the Chelan event. While I'm disappointed my ticket was not pulled for the iTroll, I'm excited about upgrading to a stainless propeller with Precision Propeller based on being drawn for that prize.
