We decided to brave the winds and headed to Summit for our first trip this season. We trolled Kokanee gear with the off chance we might get lucky but as expected we could not keep the rainbows from biting first. Trolling motor was out of the question with winds in the 15-20 MPH range. Melissa handled the outboard while I worked 2-3 lines, trying hard not to tangle lines while getting tossed by wind gusts. We caught 10 in 2.5 hrs of evening trolling and kept 3 for dinner. Fish were mostly new stockers in the 10-11 in range but did have 1 that was 13 in and another larger one that shook the hook at the boat. I swear we caught fish trolling anywhere from 1.2 mph to 2.5 MPH!. Good time to take the kids for some steady trout hook-ups. Looking forward to a calmer day when we can get the downriggers a bit deeper and try from some Kokes.
