Launched a bit early at 4:30 p.m., but it gave us enough time to get things set up and relaxing into a good evening troll for some Rainbows. First line was on the down rigger set at 30 ft using a half and half dodger with a gold bead/gold blade wedding ring tipped with nightcrawler. Had it set and got the other side in the water. Rainbow pattern sling blade with a red bead/silver blade wedding ring tipped with shoe peg garlic corn. Was sending this down on the rigger to 25 when it pops off around 15 ft. BAM! First nice trout in the box!
We continued for a while without any other hits. Sent a long line out the back with pink wedding ring and worm. It got smashed a couple of times, but nothing stuck. We switched over to nightcrawler on the corn rod and brought the lines up to 15ft and the bite started as soon as the sun got a good slant on the water. Action was steady until we had nine nice fat rainbows in the boat and it was time to head home.
Tight lines guys. The best times are those that make you smile when you think back on them.
