Fished sawyer again for a few hours, 9-noon. My dad and I targeted groups of fish with our dodgers, attractors and various lures/ wedding rings on top and up to 20 ft down on the downrigger. The small dodger and wedding ring or spinner hoochie continues to be the ticket. Spoons and small plugs don't seem to produce for us. Worm or any berkely artificial bait increased hookups, but we still had a lot of drive-by's. In hindsight, we could have turned the fish finder off and done just as well. Anywhere we saw rolling fish or surfacing fish wakes we could catch (or loose) fish!
Lots of action, kept three, lost more than we boated today.?..
My dad was asking how I know the difference between a cutt and a bow, and I gave him the text book "teeth on tongue", "red slash under throat" and "jaw extends behind eye" answers...
Well, most of us know which is which here, but all the fish we kept had the slash, all had the same basic tooth structure and location, and all of their jaws extended beyond the back of the eye. Just thought it was interesting.
