Started the day off with a very early alarm at 2am so that we would beat the rush to the boat ramp. On ever fishing trip there is enough early prep the day before that all I have to do is put the lunches and coffee on the boat . The most important thing is the coffee because the captain is frumpy and can't function without his black gold. We left at the target time at 245 heading to the ramp, 25 minutes later the boat is in the water and off we go. We get to out spot, rods and cannon balls are passed up from down below. Each road are baited with herring and sent down to 255ft. We are fishing about an hour before the low right into 1 hour past the low tide. At about 9 am the captain did goes off. The first halibut in the boat it's about 35 lbs. So for about the nest 5 hrs we can catch dog fish after dog fish but about 2 pm my rod goes off and the fight is on. After about a 20 minute ordeal we land my fish. At this point we are about out of bait so we headed in.
