I took my kayak out to try for cutthroats. I trolled Sunday morning around Kirkland and ended up going 3/5, losing 2 right next to the boat. Unfortunately, It can be tough to net the fish from the kayak. One of the fish I lost was absolutely huge, maybe ~4 pounds and seem about double the size of biggest in my photo. It jumped 8-10 times around the boat.

It was a great day with nice weather, but not so nice that the lake was filled with ski and pleasure boats. I always try to be out by noon because I get nervous in the kayak with too many boats buzzing around.

Nice fish! How deep were you on the down rigger? Did you use a dodger?

Downrigger was around 25'. I use a "sling blade" dodger. I tried a few different baits but the one pictured was the hot one.

Great report! Good to hear someone is catching! Seems like the bite has been pretty slow. Maybe it is heating up finally?

DJButler and SalmonBarry both had hot days last week so that is what inspired me. I think you just have to be in the right spot at the right time. My first two fish were in the same exact spot and I caught the last 3 in a row within 30 mins in the same spot as well.
