Set out on Moses Lake launching from Connelly Park and headed south on the west shore. We trolled in 10 – 20 FOW and managed to catch only 1 walleye about 17”. Very slow fishing and declining over the last couple years. I think this 12” fish size for walleye is destroying the fishery. Back when it was 18” min., fishing was awesome. This fish was taken on a plain slow death hook and worm near the large rock pile for those of you who know Moses Lake. Stopped fishing after 3 hours and called it a day.

I totally agree wit you about the size limit. I see the the same decline on Banks Lake . A few years back before the rule change we would catch 12" to 14" all day long, now we hardly ever catch a walleye under 15" and the fishing has slowed way down. The fish we are catching are mostly in the 15" to 22" range and you really work for them. When Sprague Lake had a 18" minimum it was common to catch and release 12" to 17 1/2" fish by the dozens then they lowered the minimum to 16" and after a couple years the smaller fish just seemed to disappear. My opinion is not a popular one but it is MY opinion, I think that releasing the larger fish with the thought that they are the brood stock makes no sense to me, I think that keeping only the larger fish and releasing anything under 18" would help the Walleye population. I believe that I have witnessed the the proof of that in Sprague Lake, Banks Lake and Moses Lake. Good luck and tight lines. Hope to see you on the water again this year.
