I don't usually fish the North end of Lake Wa as I have an annual permit for Gene Coulon and it is a ways up there, but thought I would run up today. I started fishing the East side right after the I-90 bridge and hugged the shore in 100-120 ft deep. Saw fish hugging the bottom and a few that were scattered in the column. Once past the bay I cut across and started working the West shore. Just after the point I had a convincing 'hit and miss' and quickly reset after reeling in and checking the green Sling Blade and green hoochie. Ten minutes later I got a hit! reeled it in after a good fight and had to turn loose the 18" Chinook. Reset again and nearly as soon as I got it down to 25' it went off again. This time it was a nice 18" Cutthroat! Had another 'hit and miss' but that was it until I got to the North end of the lake.
After pulling everything in and driving around the shoreline to check it out I headed back South down the middle until I showed over 100' and reset. I got no hits but could see fish so pulled in to switch to a bigger green Sling Blade. There was a Perch on it... Don't know how long I was dragging it around but it was just under 10". Two fish in the livewell! I tried the green for a while longer but got no bites.
I then switched tp a pink blade and hoochie, put two big pinch weights on a couple feet up from the blade for about 10' depth as I was seeing fish up on top. That did the trick for my last Cutthroat.
I brought everything in and headed back. Three 'keeper' fish for about 10 hours of fishing... While not great at least I got three! Tight lines and sharp hooks!
