Father’s Day morning was gray and drizzly at Lake Stevens. The highlight of the day was one stout smallmouth, 18 inches long and 3lb 6oz (pictured). I caught it on a Ned rig over rocky flats.
I tried for a little while to find perch, and caught several tiny ones, but nothing big enough to keep.
I enjoyed watching bald eagles hunt over the little shallow cove with the lilypads. I saw several good-sized bullhead in this area on my one previous visit, when I hadn’t brought anything to throw at them. On this trip I was prepared, but my bait generated no interest.
