Well my daughter came up to get out of the Arizona heat so we took the boat out fishing. Started out slow, but after about an hour it picked up.

The sonar was lit up with fish most of the time. Tried a couple of the Kokobow lures and a pink mini hoochie this time with no success. We then switched up to 2 different versions of wedding rings behind sling blade dodgers and that made things happen.

Caught 3 nice fat cutthroat trout and some other fish for a total of 8 fish in 3 hours. We were only out on the water for about 3 hours (daughter doesn't think much time longer is needed) she wanted to go in so we did. Fished the same area I did last week that was successful and it still was (SW tip of Mercer Island in the middle of the channel). Much more bait balls this time out and lots more fish on the sonar.

Ran the Fishhawk temp probe down on the DR ball to the bottom at 120ft. Water temp was 70 degrees on the surface and it remained almost that temp until you got to 45ft. Temp at 55ft was 55 degrees and that where we set our gear. That was the money spot. Go get em. Be safe! -G

yep that's the usual magic depth once the temps warm up and other boats are on the water! Nice report and glad you could get your daughter on the water!

Thanks for the awesome report! Looks like a cabelas cooler; I just bought a couple of 80 qt, so I'm wondering how well they work.
Thanks

It is a Cabelas cooler Love the thing except I wish I would have gotten a bigger one. Its a 40 quart, I'm going to pick up an 80 qt for my transom swim step. Will just use the 40 for trout and drinks. Salmon don't fit so well in it. Keeps ice forever and way cheaper then an Yeti. I've had a single bag of ice last 6 days in it.

LOVE to see your daughter from Arizona wearing a hooded coat in July.... bet she wishes she could take some of the chill back with her. Thanks for the photos and report on LW

That's why I posted it, made me smile. I was in cargo shorts and a short sleeve shirt. I told her to bring a jacket and I'm glad I did. She called me about an hour ago to tell me it's 115 degrees in Phoenix right now and starting to get humid (monsoon season). She wishes she was back up here.
