Fished Swawilla and around the rock wall downstream from Keller this morning for some Kokanee. We picked up numerous planters that kept our attention but not what we were after. We were fishing with pink and orange Kekeda flies behind dodgers tipped with power maggots. We were zig zagging out of the river channel over deeper water with downriggers anywhere from 12' down to 60'. Towards the end of the day we were toying around with depths and rounded a point that was about 25 feet deep and my buddy was rewarded with a 19" smallmouth. Fun bonus fish on the orange Kekeda. Had a great day and called it quits at 11 to get back home. All fish were released.

I'm having a summer sale on Kekedas this month. If you haven't tried these flies yet or need to stock up before fall and winter rainbow fishing here's your chance.

Good to see you got out Dave even if you only caught net pen fish and SMB. :-)

Thanks, Phil. It was good to get out on Roosevelt again. It had been a few months.

I spent 16 days camping at Keller and had over 60hrs in fishing for kok's. Caught a total of 4 and 3 of those were in a 20 minute stretch.

If you couldn't catch them, I'm not very optimistic the Koke fishing is going to turn around anytime soon.

Weld22 said it best. That's exactly what I was thinking when I read your comment. Makes me feel a little better about not finding them.

Well, that's probably a sure sign the fishery this year is not going to be as good as past couple years. :(

I guess the next question would be if anyone is catching 4 pound, unclipped Kokanee in Rufus Woods.
