I'm new to that type of fishing, but get out to Kalaloch once in a while. I've used some squid with limited success.
So Berkeley Soft plastics? Red? Never used a rubber bait. What size of hook? Do you bait them like you would a live worm for trout fishing?

7/14/2017 7:26:21 AMI had 40 pound braid going to a swivel pyramid sinker, of a couple ounces, and then a 2-4 foot leader to a size 6 or 8 Gamakatsu bait holder hook. We were on kalaloch beach, near the creek on incoming tide. And the worms were the Berkley Gulp! Camo Sand worms, but I also heard sand crabs work really well. But all you have to do is thread a sand worm on the hook and it will do the trick.
