We got out to fish the upper lake for the elusive Conconully Kokanee for about an hour after work. It sure is great having the ability to just jam up to the lake for a quick fishing trip.
It didn't take long before I got to reel in a fat Kokanee on the new Lamiglas CG80 I picked out for my wife, and wow is it nice! Super soft tip but way more backbone than I had anticipated. I'm thinking sockeye slayer.
I had a hard time getting all my poles out at first, it really didn't take us long to find them. Once we found them we just kept circling back and hitting them again.
This is one of those trips we will be talking about years from now. The time we caught the first 18" Kokanee out of the upper lake! To be fair Tyler our oldest caught it with a little handy net work from his younger counterpart, and it was on my fishing pole! The fish came at 35 feet on the downrigger, on a Kokanee Kryptonite custom tube fly behind a Mack's Double D dodger. Anis plus cured corn with trout and Kokanee magic gel scent from pro cure for that extra kick. It is really cool to see our young anglers developing their skills. I would put them up against any Kokanee tournament team! Really cool watching him set a new boat record for the lake! On my fishing pole by the way.
