Showed up at the State Park ramp at about 7:45 on my way to taking my trailer in for wiring fix. Thought I could get in a couple hours. Feel so lucky to be able to be fishing on an excellent lake 30 min after waking up! I plan on just hitting a few docks on the East side and so I try to start my 9.9 hp and the rope breaks! I get the trolling motor going and head to the first houses nearest the ramp. I go back and forth between a tube bait and a 6 inch brown curly tail Berkley power worm.After about an hour and a dozen docks, I get tired of taking grass off the tube and go strictly with the power worm using Carolina rigging which allows the worm to glide through the grass no problem. I position my boat so that I can throw my rig parallel to the end of a dock and I slowly work it back. Just as it gets near the end of the dock, a very nice largemouth just picks it up and tries to take it back to his home under the dock. I'm fishing 8 lb. mono but he doesn't really put up that good of a fight and I get him in pretty quick, take the pic and let him go! 2 hrs on the lake, couple other bites that I suspect where smaller fish and I pack it in and call it a success. I'd guess he weighed 2-3 lbs. Still learning this lake...lots of fun! Thanks to all you bass fishers who post your stories here. :-)
