The mountain was out and the weather was great. Lake Sammamish didn't fail me today unlike most other days I've fished there for bass. I was at the north end of the lake fishing for bass. I had a ton of bites but no takers. As I was reading in, I thought I snagged something. It was heavy and felt like a log. And, as I was reeling it in,I saw grass so I was sure I had a snag. Then, it moved, and I realize it was a fish. As it got closer, I realized it was a bass and was too big to lift into the boat using just my line so I had to reach in and pull it in by the mouth. It was big - 18" and 3.5 lb. at first, I thought it was a smallmouth and that's what I told some guys passing by. Then, I looked closed and saw that the mouth extended beyond the eye. It was a largemout - my first on Lake Sammamish. In case you are wondering, I was using black Senkos when I caught her. The darker ones were hitting more today than the lighter ones like watermelon.
Overall, it was a beautiful day and a lot of fun.
