Got to the Ponds at around 1:00 p.m. Fished with a friend who was new to fishing and content with the small Rainbows around the shore. I, on the other hand was looking for a bigger fish and when worms didn't get the desired result I switched to a Mepps Spinner. It worked well in luring fish towards the shore, including one big one, maybe 12 inches, but would not trigger any strikes. We finally switched to a shadier spot in mid-afternoon and the small ones were biting on worms and salmon eggs about 3 feet below the surface with bobbers. Again, I was out for the big one and took off my bobber to drag a worm on the bottom, I hooked a nice size one, and reeled it in just far enough to see it was a 12+ inch rainbow, before it threw the hook and swam away, I finally just gave up and fished for the small ones. In all we caught and threw back about 15, the largest about 6 inches. We saw three large ones, one the ate the small fish right off his hook and snapped his line.
