I guess I'll sleep in a bit later on days I fish - got out earlier than usual on the 26th, nothing hit until around 9:30. After that the action was pretty consistent. Started out with an orange/green wedding ring - only a couple of hits. Switched to green, hooked three: lost 2, got one in the boat - about 15".

Not happy with my braided line and downrigger clip (either pops out to easily or difficult to release) so switched to the pole with mono-filament line and chartreuse beads. Caught 3 more nice cuts. Will probably change out the braided. Thinking 6# is just too thin for the clips to work consistently.

Now that I THINK I have this lake figured out a bit I'll start spending more time experimenting with various flasher and lure set up, might have more hamburger for dinner on those days.

I use 15lb braid with a 8 or 10lb mono topshot for my trout/kokanee downrigger setups. With the 15lb braid, the large Scotty clips only require me to place the line about a third of the way in on the lightest setting to hold. 6 and 8lb braid works great for jigging winter perch in lake Washington. When they are 80' to 100' down, it's nice to feel a nibble and know just a twitch is going to set the hook. Nice going on the cutts. This year is definitely providing better water conditions for the cutts in Lake Sammamish. Same time last year, these fish were already restricted to a very narrow band of water.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should have bought a heavier line than the 6# I did. Will probably set that reel aside for perch and sunfish. I agree, this year seems to be better than others for catching cuts. I do notice I 'm catching fewer kokanee than I normally do.

I had the same problem with braid. Tie about 75-100 feet of 10-12lb test mono to your braid. Should fix the problem. Use a double uni knot.

Thanks for the insight to what might fix my braid problem, will give it a try. I reread an older post of yours regarding getting away from the wedding ring, etc. setup. That's my intention as well. I'm not aware of the Old Goat lure you're talking about - is that something you buy locally?
