Got out to La Push.. on the water right about 5am and steamed out approx 61 miles due west took several hours.. found some 60-61 degree blue water and started our Albacore Troll. We were in a 3 boat spread approx 2-3 miles apart. very little bait fish in the area.. LOTS of whales though. fishing chatter on VHF 68 confirmed what we were experiencing... not tuna at all. we continued to troll for several hours to no avail... decided to head back and at the very least bring some bottom fish home. once we were near shore it took almost 2 hours to limit out for all 3 of us... pretty nice sized lings.. with the proverbial Monster Ling lost at the boat... for real.. MONSTER Ling!
I broke a fairly new Lamiglas X-11 casting rod... top section exploded... sucked. All in all it was a beautiful day on the water with some good friends!
