We've been to Beaver Lake a few times and usually it is an OK day of fishing, never got our limits there, but usually we get at least something.
But this time my son and I were extremely lucky, what a variety.
We got there and started fishing from shore. 5 minutes after casting the first one, we got a bite and then a decent 12" trout. Not too fat, but good size.
Then lots of kids started swimming around and we had to go onto our inflatable kayak (more like a floating balloon - I need to buy something better).
We tried a few spots and got 3 fat sunfish that we decided to keep and fry later at night, plus a few small perch (released all).
My son was goofing around with a setup that I made for him to try bass, but I confess I wasn't too confident as I am not a bass angler myself. But I was wrong, very wrong. The kid got a strong bite and fought as much as he could before screaming for help.
I had a fun time pulling it myself, it was the best fight i can remember having with a fish. The pictures will tell and even though I didn't have a scale, that large mouth was probably around 7 lbs.
I know it was probably one day in a lifetime at Beaver, but that was tons of fun catching multiple well-sized fish!
