I met a new acquaintance to paddle up Rock Creek to Bonnie Lake. He'd never been there but had heard about it. We met in Cheney ~0630 and were paddling up the creek in kayaks by 0700. NOTE: he had a very nice 13.5' fishing kayak, I had a 10' recreational kayak I'm slowly modifying for fishing. He had difficulty navigating the many twists & turns.

We finally made it to the lake and began fishing ~300 yards up the left bank. I was using a drop shot and night crawlers. He was using jigs and other lures. He hit several small (12 - 14") largemouth bass. I hit on 2 very nice (11") Yellow Perch, 2 smaller Perch (they went back to grow more) and ~5 Bluegill/Pumkinseed.

The wind was very brisk; it was pushing us along ~1 mph. By ~0915 he was cold and needed to head back.

Everyone had fun fishing. Oh yeah, those 2 Perch tasted mighty good when I cooked them!

That's duck weed. I had these on a stringer attached to my kayak. They accumulated a LOT of duck weed on the paddle back down Rock Creek.

I want to do that trip badly, keep me in mind if you do it again! Those perch look big and feisty. Nice report.

Those two were hard hitters!

I'd be happy to have someone along. As I said to LilRipper, my next time out will be the 2nd weekend in September. I might have to try Bonnie then. According to the WDFW website catch rate should pick up.

Nice Perch! I'm used to catching those dinks out of Silver Lake. I live in Four Lakes, so if you ever want a fishing partner to make that trip, I'd like to try that out. I've got a 10' fishing kayak this spring that needs more use. Do you put in where Belsby Rd. crosses Rock Creek?

Yep, Belsby Road bridge over Rock Creek is the only place.

I'd be happy to include you on a trip! I'm heading on a short trip to Glacier this weekend then helping out a DD fishing "camp" on Clear Lake the following weekend. Maybe the 2nd weekend in September will be my next time out.

I just realized that my wife will be camping with other ladies (annual Camp Fire event) on 8 - 10 September. I plan on making it to Bonnie Lake on 9 September. Anyone wishing to join me can meet at Harvest Foods in Cheney @ 0630. See you then!

Count me in for that. I've been on swing shift hours for the last several months so 0630 is going to be a bit painful but I NEED to fish this lake.
