Fished at Fort Casey from 6:30am to 10:00am. I hooked and landed a 5lb humpy on my third cast, after that, on my section of beach I saw a fish hooked every thirty minutes or so, still kinda slow. Later on I hooked one and lost it, unfortunately. I overheard someone saying that there are a lot of fish still held up around the San Juan islands. I believe him, I've heard fish are starting to show up in numbers in the Nooksack, which is supposedly one of the earliest runs, but just poor water visibility is preventing any catching. My guess is that this year for whatever reason the fish avoided going through the Strait of Juan de Fuca and instead went through the Strait of Georgia along the east side of Vancouver Island, maybe that could explain the run being so late this year? I was starting to lose hope, but seeing fish being caught in Area 9 cheered me up, the humpies are definitely late this year, next weekend should be primetime in Area 9 beaches and the lower Snohomish. P.S. I was at Thomas Eddy Sunday afternoon and only saw a few rollers during the hour I was there.
