Fished the Green again this morning 6-8AM, the tide was perfect but the fish haven't been biting too much this week despite the heavy numbers. They were a little more bitey today, I missed 2, and landed a hen that was snagged by another jig, and attached to a branch, and I hooked the branch! Totally crazy, I think that doesn't count as mouth hooked so sent her on her way. I did finally see other people catching mouth hooked fish which was a good sign, whereas most of this week it's been very slow other than the snaggers. I would say 90% of the people fishing are blatantly snagging fish and retaining at the green. People from the shore and boats have just been yanking their rods hard up and down, with no shame and not hiding it at all. Pretty frustrating when you're trying to catch fish the right way. The good news is that I managed to land a big old 15lb wild chinook on a hot pink feathery humpy jig, my first every king on the river. It took off 200 ft upstream through 5 other fishing lines, but I managed to get him to shore to snap a few pics. What a rush. After reviving him, released him back to the river, and hopefully can re-catch him in a couple days upstream when the river opens for Kings.

Nice King. Too bad about the snaggers.

Nice report. It sucks about the snaggers. I see it all the time and sucks the wind out of my day. This is why I fish water with few fish and even fewer fisherman. It looks like the salmon gods rewarded you with a nice king. That will kelp you coming back!

The other day the biggest treble hook I've ever seen was left on the bank by snaggers They left at sunrise when I arrived, fish in hand. Fish and game needs to nab em before sunup. Behind Boeing at 112th.
