Lost the 12 LB downrigger weight with the line clip to basically start the morning! Got the replacement parts out, tied up and went back to fishing!!
The Area 11 Dolphin Pt has been very productive since the closer of Area 10 for Chinook but requires some serious time and getting there very early. The bite is usually on before the sun gets above the Mountains on clear days, lasts longer on cloudy days but can last well into the later morning even on sunny days.
The tackle of choice for me has been the Herring Aid spoons behind the Gibbs flashers with the gear starting out a 27 FT down to 80 FT as the morning goes on fishing shallow water working out to deeper depths. So far the leader length has been 42-52 inches, 52" has gotten the most takedowns. I troll into/with the tides having equal success over the years.
The shakers love the Coho Killer Spoons so I have to bring the gear up every 5 minutes or if I see the tip moving. This spoon has gotten the majority of legal salmon as well as takedowns, had the hardest takedown ever on it but the fish broke the backend of the spoon off!!
