So today is my second day out. I would say my first of actually trying and committed to staying for more than 1 hr like yesterday.
Got to the river by the 9 bridge around 8am with my gf. We were using pink hoochie jigs. Nothing for the first hr. The. Around 9 I saw a couple ppl hooking up but not landing. Finally someone got one around 9 30. Ten minutes later I zoned out for a bit and my jig went a bit deeper than I let it go and started feeling fish on. Wow was it taking line. First time ever hooking up while jigging. As it was getting close it took another run straight down and my drag was tight and snapped my line. Was so sad. Ten minutes later got another bite and fish on for about 10 seconds. The fish came up and showed itself to us and spit the hook right at us. Lol.
So now I kind of had the idea on how to jig properly because there is some guys that are yanking there lines. But anyways it died for another hr and as I was saying last cast for the 100th. I let my jig sink a couple feet before reeling. Then half way back bam fish on.! This one really got the best out of me. I played it for about 15 to 20 minutes. I saw someone recording, a little kid was trying to talk to me as I was walking trying to play the fish. All this trying to be careful letting it run and what not to see it jump 20ft out confront of me then spit the hook AGAIN! I wanted to cry I was so sad. Lol. I should of gave it a 3 star but put 2 because did not land one.
It was still amazing to have played the fish. The last one had my arm hurting.
Anyways I'll be back tomorrow and hopefully I can land one this time. I still cannot believe I lost 3. Oh and had 2 other bites that did not stick. Kept switching jigs. Some with white heads. Some all pink and some with an eye painted. Good luck everyone and tight lines
