It looks like the river is slowing down alot this week. with the low numbers and less rain.. this report is for the past 3 trips taken, last one this morning..

Monday, Slow but they are in their. 5 hookups before noon, all lost with two getting close to the beach but spitting it out in my face..... Threw a fortune into the river, man I sure hope someone is collecting those.. fun day though!

Tuesday, More free jigs into the river with two hookups and 1 almost landed but yet again spat the hook out in my face. ( only fished about 2 hours )

Today For a Thursday I would rate it 4 stars instead of 3. Only fished about an hour and landed a hen but let her go, she fought hard and looked like she had already been let go a couple times before. She was barely 5 pounds if even that... really wanted a good colored buck.

In my own opinion we should only be allowed one female a day if even that... with these lower numbers I feel like keeping the females will only lower the numbers even more.. because one small female could potentially create a whole school.. and the males have better colored meat anyways because they are not loosing nutrients creating eggs... but hey that's just my opinion.

Fish still in the river, just not as plentiful for sure... fish seem to bite better when boats aren't moving around a bunch and mukking up the water.... any day fishing beats not fishing haha

I think your opinion about meat color is spot on. Ive noticed that for years. Bucks do cut better, and with the fact that roe fishermen almost always only kill does (hens), it is a good ethical decision to release the does and keep the bucks (especially if you don't use the roe for bait or ikura). Its really good to see people making smart ethical choices like that out on the river.

I applauded your comments. I find absurd we have SO MANY limitations but no protection for hens. I will certainly give bucks a try (if I catch anything at all) ! Good day
